Autumn 2

What a super half term we have had. There has been so much going on in the lead up to Christmas - I think everyone is very excited for Christmas!

Our Elf, Bertie, has had a lovely time in Maple Class and has even been a little mischievous at times.

Mrs Holt set us a fantastic task - chrismaths week. The children particularly enjoyed the pass the parcel maths. Under each wrapper, children found a maths question and a chocolate coin! yum.

The children have enjoyed lots of variety during choosing time throughout the half term. One of the boys' favourites (and the girls) was the soldiers in the investigation station.

Biscuits!
I hope your children shared their tasty Christmas biscuits with you! the children did a fab job of mixing, rolling cutting and decorating their biscuits.

Finally, on Tuesday all the children sat down for Christmas Dinner to end off a great half term. the children all made reindeer hats and looks fantastic.

I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas. All the children have worked really hard and again I am really pleased with their progress. Well done everyone.

“Best of all, Christmas means a spirit of love, a time when the love of God and the love of our fellow men should prevail over all hatred and bitterness, a time when our thoughts and deeds and the spirit of our lives manifest the presence of God.”— George F. McDougall

See you all soon

This week....

Maple and Oak classes have had lots of opportunities this week to use their senses. Monday, the children experimented with slime. The recipe didn't quite work out so we will save that for another time!

In the canopy, children developed their fine motor skills, scooping the volcanic, firey foam into the containers.

Funky fingers - children were challenged to use the tweezers to pick up the sp-sp-spooky ghosts from the trays.

Other activities included imaginative play in the catsle, the pirate ship and the fairy house.

All the children are working really hard to improve their writitng skills - focusing on writing their name. This activity, which uses magnets, helps the children to practice using entry and exit strokes.

It's been a long first half term and I think all the children (and adults) are ready for a rest.We are so pleased with how well the children have settled in and have started to progress in their learning already. Enjoy the half term everybody. Rest, share a smile and have fun.

A Teddy bear's Picnic

What a fantastic day we all had yesterday on our Teddy Bear's Picnic. Thankfully the rain held out for us!

In pairs, the children had a clipboard and a pencil and were challenged to spot different things in the park. The children were brilliant and found everything.

We're Going On A Bear Hunt

What a treat Maple Class and Oak Class are in for this week. Mrs Rushton has been a busy bee making a super bear trail for our hunters.
